Branding_Sediba Creative Cruises

This was my solution for my final graded unit for my HND. I had to write my own brief, brand the company, designed a corporate stationery, magazine spread, packaging, design a website and a poster.

I’ve decided to bring my dream to life, Sediba Creative Cruises – a creative design school working closely with design companies around the world. Sediba is a Sesotho word for ‘fountain’ – a source of creatives on a ship.

H.Samuel Campaign YCN Entry 2010

This was my solution for the H. Samuel Campaign for the YCN 2010 entry. The criteria was to get younger people to buy from H. Samuel. My concept was ‘Simply Irresistible’.

Branding Pamoja Art

Pamoja Art is in partnership with the Twende Pamoja Trust. All the income generated from Pamoja Art sales are helping to create our genesis in fulfilling our dreams; starting with the Legho project.

I had to brand the company’s public image, designed campaign posters, corporate identity, exhibition invites, packaging and a website for the company. I worked on the Genesis concept since it was the start of a new relationship between the two companies. I wanted to metaphorically illustrate this concept in strong simple imagery to emphasize a new beginning.

D&DA Book Entry 2010

This was my solution for the H.G. Wells D&DA Book Entry 2010. The criteria was to pick 3 books of your choice and then design modern covers that will work as a set. I’ve worked with strong photography (took my own photographs) together with the Meta Type family.

Poster_Curriculum of Excellence

This poster is to feature in the main entrance lobby of Edinburgh’s Telford College as inspiration for many design students. I had to illustrate 2 words: space and inclusion.

Magazine Layout_Spirit Supplement

My layouts for the Spirit Supplement – Future Edition. I’ve decided to focus on the underground Cybergoths in the working place. I was inspired to be daring with typography on the headings of every article. It is very pleasing to see how the typography follows the lines of each and every photography – great design in it’s most simple form!

Future Edition Cover

The first article was about Public Space flights – 2 double page spread. Notice how the heading of the article takes the form of a rocket on its side – typography at play.

The second article features the new Communication Centre in Edinburgh. Here I was very playful with the magazine columns of text and probably broke some layout rules. Then again – serious play no solemn design.

The last spread is the feature spread – Cybergoths. The colors I’ve used is opposites and compliments the layout. The elements are complicated yet the spread appears to be clean and simple.

Typography_Sprint Phone Cards

Live Brief, very open, no specifications of media.  I’ve decided to create 2 series of International phone cards, using photography as my typography with some imagery of transport on one series and plain for the other.  I’ve worked with the colors of the spectrum since it emphasizes ‘connections’.

Friends Of the Earth Campaign

This was an InDesign brief handed to us whilst we were working on our Mentor Brief.  The exercise was for us to manage our time right between the two and also to demonstrate our knowledge and skills of InDesign and Photoshop.  I’ve decided to work with a lot of metaphors in my layouts and to use lyrics of “The Earth Song” instead of creating yet another boring global warming campaign.

Corporate Identity

This was one of the most exciting live briefs I’ve done by far.  I received this call from Durban, South Africa last Tuesday.  I had to brand an existing plumbing business within 4 hours. I came up with the following:

Branding_Scott MacKenzie DTX

This is a live brief with Nevis Design, my mentor for this year.  We have to re-brand the new Scott MacKenzie DTX (Design Through Experience) fly fishing rod & speyline.  I also have to design an advertising poster which will be propped on-top of the counters and/or any additional advertising material for the store.  Big advertising posters are out of the question since these shops are very limited on space.

Additional Advertising Material in the form of a door mat, since these fly fishing stores are very limited on space.  This great idea for advertising would be easily noticeable during entrance to the store.
